विंटर वॉर, सोवियत - फीनिश युद्ध 1939–1940 एवं सोवियत - फ़िनलैण्ड युद्ध 1939–1940 प्रायः रूसी इतिहास; रूसो-फीनिश युद्ध 1939–1940 या फीनो-रूसी युद्ध 1939–1940 तत्कालीन सोवियत संघ एवं फिनलैण्ड के बीच चला १९३९ से १९४० तक का साढ़े तीन माह लम्बा युद्ध था। यह युद्ध फिनलैण्ड पर द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के साढ़े तीन माह बाद ३० नवंबर १९३९ को सोवियत संघ द्वाआ फ़िनलैण्ड पर की गई चढ़ाई से आरम्भ हुआ था और इसका अन्त मॉस्को शान्ति समझौते से १३ मार्च १९४० को हुआ था। राष्ट्र संघ ने इस हमले को अवैध माना और संघ से सोवियत संघ को निष्कासित कर दिया।

Battle of Salla (1939)
The Battle of Salla was fought between Finnish and Soviet troops near Salla in northern Finland during the Winter War. The Soviets had orders to advance through Salla to Kemijärvi and Sodankylä, and from there to Rovaniemi in just two weeks. From there they were to advance to Tornio and cut Finland in two. The Finnish troops managed to stop the Soviet advance just east of Kemijärvi. During the last days of February 1940 the Finnish troops were replaced with the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish volunteers of the Stridsgruppen SFK.

The Battle of Petsamo was fought between Finnish and Soviet troops in the area of Petsamo in the far north of Finland in 1939 and 1940. The Finnish troops were greatly outnumbered but managed to contain the Soviet troops due to the extreme terrain, weather and leadership.

Battle of Taipale
The Battle of Taipale was a series of battles fought during the Winter War between Finland and Soviet Union from 6 to 27 December 1939. The battles were part of a Soviet campaign to penetrate the Finnish Mannerheim Line in the Karelian Isthmus region to open a route into southern Finland. Despite their numerical superiority, the Soviet forces were unable to break through the Finnish defences.
