太平天国（1851年—1864年）是一个政教合一的君主制政权，创始人为洪秀全和冯云山，旨在推翻清朝统治者。洪秀全与少年时代的私塾同学冯云山经过多年传播拜上帝会，1850年末至1851年初与杨秀清、萧朝贵、曾天养、石达开等人在广西省浔州府桂平县（今广西壮族自治区桂平市金田镇金田村）组织团营举事，后建国号“太平天国”，史称太平天国革命、太平天国运动、太平天国起义、太平天国之乱，并于1853年攻下江苏省江宁府城（今江苏省南京市），改称天京，定都于此。最终清政府在英国和法国的援助下消灭太平军，结束了历时十三年的太平天国运动。

Battle of Changsha (1852)
The Battle of Changsha was fought in the early years of the Taiping Rebellion throughout 1852. After defeating Qing forces in Guangxi, the Taipings advanced into neighboring Hunan province. The city was heavily defended and a delay in the Taiping advance allowed Qing forces to reinforce the city. The first attempt to advance north was stopped at an ambush at the Suoyi ford in the Xiang River, where over 10,000 Taiping sailors and soldiers were killed.

太平军一破江南大营为中国咸丰六年（1856年）6月17日起，太平天国东王杨秀清、翼王石达开率太平军四十万以上，继破武昌、南京清军后，再次以压倒性的兵力“反围攻”驻扎在天京城外明孝陵由向荣领导的绿营。绿营兵力近十万，但在这一次的歼灭战中折损殆尽。太平军大胜之馀，东王杨秀清据功骄纵，引起众王将不满，不久后爆发天京内讧。

三河之战，太平天国晚期战役之一，太平军与湘军在安徽三河镇交战。此役湘军战败，湘军将领李续宾与曾国藩弟曾国华皆阵亡。

Battle of Cixi
The Battle of Cixi or Battle of Tzeki (慈溪之戰) was an armed engagement in the Taiping Rebellion fought between the Ever Victorious Army of the Qing dynasty and forces of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom on September 21, 1862, at Cixi. The battle, which was won by the Ever Victorious Army, resulted in the mortal wounding of Frederick Townsend Ward, the American mercenary who founded and commanded the force. Ward's death after the battle led to the succession of Henry Andres Burgevine as commander of the Ever Victorious Army and initiated a period of decline for the force.
